ayotzinapa and the feelings of the nation

(leer este post en español)

this blog was originally intended to write my situations, emotions and feelings. something like a therapy that would help me to free myself from inside, of all the things that happened and are happening to me right now.

but pretty much at the same time of the creation of my projectit happened all this ayotzinapa thing. so my mind has been so busy thinkin about that all the time. thinkin of the 43 disappeared students, their families, their friends; thinkin of all the people who, besides them, we're victims of the mexican government; thinkin of the sadness, desperation, impotence...

since the events of september 26th, i've been focused on that. when i have a free time, i search for more news and information. that's why i had not had-time/been-able/wanted to start writing my blog.

but right now my head's about to explode. this head is where i'm saving all the information, own and others' opinions, all the images. ENOUGH, i need to vent. I wish my first post was something more positive. but right now, impossible.

but... what do i mean with "the ayotzinapa thing"?

the first time i heard something about it, i was on my way to work, on the morning of september 11, 2014. on the radio of the bus, they're talkin about a shooting in guerrero. there were six dead. one of them, a kid, member of the avispones soccer team, a bus driver, and a woman that traveled in a taxi... they told that very quickly, without giving too much importance to it. and things like that happen very often in guerrero, so (sounds terrible but) it's very common to hear this kind of things.

that week i wasn't at home because of work, and the place where i was stayin didn't have internet, so i was a little bit disconnected. when i came back to the world of technology and facebook, i was reading more and more posts of something that happened. comments and opinions of people and friends that at the beginning i didn't understand what they were talkin about. after a while i said ok, ok. something's wrong. and with only a few key words, saint google showed me one of the most terrible and touching news (with all its evidences and pictures) i've heard in my whole life.

a summary:

on september 26th, "normalistas" students of the rural school in ayotzinapa were traveling from iguala on a bus. at around 9:30pm, they were intercepted by police officers, who opened fire on the vehicles, killing one of themthe shooting made the students to run away in different directions, escaping and hiding where they could. however, most of them were arrested.

during the attack, some of the normalistas had made phone calls to their classmates in ayotzinapathese ones went to iguala for helping their mates. at around 11pm, they arrived and found those who had not been taken by the cops. the press was already there, too.

they were still there at midnight, when there was a second attack. a group of people came suddenly and started shooting at them. some of them fled into the surrounding hills. this time two students died. the next morning, the corpse of one of them was found. his eyes had been gouged out and the skin of his face flayed. the shocking image circulated online. who could do something that horrible to another person???

almost at the same time of this second attack, another group of men fired at a bus carrying players of a local soccer team, the avispones de chilpancingo, which was mistaken for one of the normalistas buses. in this attack a football player, the bus driver, and a lady inside a taxi, were killed.

the 43 normalistas taken were kidnapped, and handed over by the police to members of the guerreros unidos. we had no news of them for over a month.

at the beginning, epn (the national asshole) didn't care about the whole thing. he thought that we would forget it in a few days, like, sadly, usually in méxico happens with bad news. several days before, the fool ass noted that it was serious. and that, because of the the criticism from the international community, aware of the news through a string of unofficial information.

there were protest meetings throughout the country which express the demand of all citizens for 1) bring back the 43 normalistas alive, and 2) the resignation of the idiot who is the president of the nation.

i saw striking pictures online of the meetings in méxico city, which made me feel a collection of emotions like anger, sadness, indignation. but also, faith in the unity that seemed to exist between many mexicans, all fighting for a common goallong time since i felt misunderstood. before i felt alone, i seemed to be the only unhappy person, surrounded by people who care about nothing. but seeing those pictures made me realize that we are so many now.

there were protests all over the world, too. mexicans and non mexicans living abroad took to the streets in their countries, made videos and took pictures with messages, showing us their solidarity and support.

over the days, looking for the normalistas, dozens of corpses spread in several mass graves were found in the area. the dna tests indicated that the bodies were not of the normalistas.

an extract from the poem "buscábamos a 43" (lookin for 43) by jenaro villamil:

buscábamos a 43
y encontramos decenas, cientos, quizás miles
sin nombre, sin registro, sin huellas,
sin rostros, incluso, sin brazos ni piernas.
los olvidados que sembramos.

translation would be:

we were lookin for 43
but we found dozens, hundreds, thousands of people
bodies without a name, an identity,
faceless, and even without arms or legs.
the forgotten we sow.

"well, they're not neither here. you guys continue digging",
says murillo on the cartoon made by camacho.

on november 4th, iguala's mayor josé luis abarca, and his wife maría de los ángeles pineda, were arrested. they are responsible for the events occurred and the disappearance of the normalistas. a few days after the bomb exploded, they had fled and disappeared from the face of the earth.

these two subjects were related to the guerreros unidos for years, and it was they who gave the order to the police to attack the students and everything else.

however, there are (very probable) rumors indicating that this arrest was a set of government in an attempt to calm things down a bit. did not understand that we didn't care about anything, while the normalistas were still missing.

a terrible day for méxico, november 7th. in press conference, the minister of injustice, jesús murillo karam, gave a speech in which he "almost" confirmed the killing of the 43 normalistas.

he showed videos and images, and explained in great detail the confession of the people who participated in the kidnapping and murder of the normalistas. according to these people, they had killed them all, burned and torn to pieces their bodies, and thrown them into a dumpster.

but they still could not close the investigation until they have the results of dna. we're still waiting for those results.

(i'm sharing this, sorry it's in spanish)

it's worth mentioning that the parents of the victims have not accepted that statement, and still demand their children alive.

despite such dark moments in the history of the nation and the declaration we all just received, the national asshole decided to flee to china and australia, for a "tour".

during those days, in the midst of so much confusion, the fake news were swift. only trying to defend the government, justify the atrocities of the last many years, demonize the protesters, manipulate information, and destabilize the emotions of the most naive mexicans (so many).

while the national asshole was on his trip, it came to light an investigation published in aristegui noticias, related to the now named "epn's white house". news that fanned the fire, if fanning it even further could be that possible. the fire of dissatisfaction and anger.

the day when the national asshole would return from australia, casually that day there was an attack by agents of the pgj at the faculty of philosophy and letters of unam, in ciudad universitaria. and those were the most talked about events all day long, all night long, and the next day too.

yesterday, angélica rivera made the most stupid statement about the white house. she tried to justify how she could buy a 7 million dollars house in las lomas. i wonder if they really think that we all the citizens believe all this bullshit.

i think that video seems insulting, so i'm not going to share it on my publication.

and to finish this count of the news of the last 2 months, last night, before bedtime, i found out that the federal government negotiated with dr. mireles for his release from prision. on the condition of not to vote in the 2015 elections, to give up combating at least until 2018, and even to be exiled.

his lawyers, attorneys talía and salvador, have resigned from the case. cause that deal doesn't include the freedom of more than 370 members of the self-defense groups, those who are in prision too, and also they think the restrictions imposed on dr. Mireles are (and they are) shameful.

still i fully support dr. mireles' decision. he's done so much for his community, the nation, and everyone of us. in exchange he received a punishment that he did not deserve. i just hope they are not fooling him, or planning to betray him once he's free. in itself, it's rather suspicious that they want to negociate with him casually in these times we're living.

i think i've freed it all. thanks.
